  • Trust

Know that I’ll be okay, I know I said I’d stay but I left anyway, I need some time to change, Will you trust me anyway? I’ve been in deceit all this time, You took something away from me but it wasn’t a knife, Can you trust me for one more day? I need someone by my side and maybe one day I’ll be okay, Sorry for all the calls I asked to make, I need to get my sorrows and take them out on someone who was fake, Will you be my distraction tonight? Trust me I won’t try to ruin your life, I’m too young for this felony, Trust me that I will forever remain wise.

  • The Greener Grass-A Blog by Jessica Nino

The Greener Grass A Blog by Jessica Nino Tip Of The Day: It’s okay to get caught up in your dreams, just make sure you're doing the right things to eventually live them. <3 My Favorite Quotes, Lines, and Lyrics I know school can quickly become a stresser so I decided to hop on here and make a list of my favorites to share with you. Lyrics: “Said “I’m Fine” but it wasn’t true, I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you and I snuck in through the garden gate every night that summer just to seal my fate, I scream for whatever it’s worth “I love you ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?’’- Cruel Summer Taylor Swift “It was the best of times, the worst of crimes.”- Getaway Car, Taylor Swift “Wish I could get to know you, sunflowers just died. Keep it sweet in your memory.”- Sunflower, Harry Styles “Even my phone misses your call...by the way” From the Dining Table, Harry Styles “I’m a mirrorball, I can change everything about me to fit in...and i’m still a believer but I don't know why, i’ve never been a natural; all I do is try, try, try.” “Nothing like the rain when you’re in outer space”- 5 Seconds of Summer, Outer Space/Carry On "even if the earth starts shaking, you're the only thing worth taking with me" - Pretty Boy The Neighborhood Lines & Quotes: “Maybe we like the pain. Maybe we’re wired that way. Because without it, I don’t know; maybe we just wouldn’t feel real. What’s that saying? Why do I keep hitting myself with a hammer? Because it feels so good when I stop.” - Meredith Grey, Grey’s anatomy “If you aren’t willing to keep looking for light in the darkest of places without stopping, even when it seems impossible, you will never succeed.” - Amelia Shepherd, Grey’s Anatomy “Don’t let what he wants eclipse what you need. He’s very dreamy, but he’s not the sun. You are.” -Cristina Yang, Grey’s Anatomy “When she fell, she fell apart...bathed in her brokenness, said a prayer of gratitude for every chink in her armor she never knew she needed. She dreamed of a love that was really something, not just the idea of something. May your heart remain breakable, but never by the same hand twice. Without your past you could never have arrived- so wondrously and brutally, by design or some violent, exquisite happenstance... here”-Taylor Swift Reputation Tour “That one thing would be that we all like the feeling of finding something by real. You know like real friendship or real love or somebody who really gets you or someone who’s really honest with you. I think that’s what we’re all really looking for in life and I think that the things that scare us the most in life are the things that we think can threaten the prospect of us finding something real. For example, having a bad reputation in our mind can get in the way of finding real friendship, real love, real acceptance because you think what if they’ve heard something about me that isn’t true ? What if they have these preconceived notions about me that they heard from gossip? And then they never wanna meet me, and then we’ll never know what could’ve happened. Because we’re so scared of something fake getting in the way of you finding something real. So when it comes to that fear and that anxiety, it’s all really delicate don’t you think?’’- Taylor Swift Reputation Tour “What if the labyrinth is the part in between living and dying, the suffering. That part where you love with all your heart... and then it breaks. And you have to live with that alone.” - Alaska Young, Looking for Alaska “When someone falls out of love with you there’s nothing you can do to make them change their mind they just don’t love you anymore.”- Taylor Swift Miss Americana “The gas is turned on, if you light yourself on fire the world will come watch you burn.."- Cheer Netflix Original (I wrote this a couple of months ago so hopefully I can make a part 2 with better quotes from different people soon:)) Contact me Hi! Don't be shy! Even if you don’t have suggestions, if you need a safe space, feel emotionally/mentally stressed, are feeling anxious, depressed, or just need a friend, I am always available! FAQs Who Am I? My Name is Jessica & I am a blogger for Study Bubbly. I was given the wonderful ability to create content for you all as a way to relax or entertain/learn while you prepare for AP/college. What Are My Interests? My interests include painting, volleyball, discovering music, reading (mostly sci-fi or romance), writing about absolutely anything and interacting with new people! I believe having hobbies and consistently participating in them helps you mentally and physically destress, so if you haven't done something you enjoy today, take the time to do it :). What Do I Intend For This Blog? This blog was created for you as a student to get some daily reading in on something that interests you. This became a resource because AP and college can very often be stressful and a handful, my purpose is to entertain you and help you stay motivated. My writing can be seen as a brain break or relaxer to those who are interested in it. I intend to make this a very chill spot for you all and to bring weekly content on any topic imaginable you suggest/want. What Grade Am I In & What Courses Am I Taking? I am a Junior for the 2020-21 year, and will be graduating with the class of ‘22. I am an Early College High School student, so half of my classes are highschool and the other half are college. My classes this year will include: Geometry PAP, Environmental Systems PAP, (high school). For my first semester in college I am taking College English, Texas Government, US History and Philosophy and for my second semester I'm taking the second part to my English and US History classes as well as Humanities, and Education. More About My Writing: How did I come up with ‘The Greener Grass’? Very often I heard the saying “the grass isn't always greener on the other side” I decided to name my blog after this to give it a positive connotation: it doesn’t matter what side of the “grass’’ were on, sure it may not be the greenest, but I think that by being positive & interacting we can make our grass greener. To me this means we can help each other out, we can teach and learn from each other; we will all eventually feel stress, pressure, & frustration, but together we can make the most out of it and encourage each other & grow. • The Greener Grass, by Jessica Nino

The Greener Grass A Blog by Jessica Nino Tip of The Day: Take a moment to stretch<3 Although states have refused to close again, many people have continued their quarantine habits because of the second wave and increasing cases since public places reopened. Here are some cool things you can do while staying safe! Activities You Can Still Enjoy Without Being at Risk Friendly Reminder: It\’s okay to have a bad day and feel unproductive, it happens to everyone. Don\’t beat yourself up, just try to do something you like the next day! Observe animals and planetariums I\’m not even going to hide my excitement for this one, this is probably something I watched for hours at a time and found to be amazing. Many zoos, aquariums,  and oceans have cameras that livestream or pre-record for long amounts of time. There are also some online planetariums that let you look into the sky and click on stars/planets that are visible and change your view and location. This is something I find very interesting and time consuming so I would definitely recommend giving this a try. Research a new Interest Take some time to read or learn about small interests you have. I recently came across an article about the best preserved mummies, and it was a good read and distracted me for a while. I encourage you to search for things you like, constantly wonder about, or make you curious. There can be a lot going on right now on the news, and in our families so it\’s refreshing to wander away for a minute and read about something you like and absorb the information available from it. Go outside To gain a better perspective on effective activities that keep you entertained, I asked a couple of my friends what they\’ve been doing to help them steady throughout these months. Many answered things like: skateboarding, gardening, exercising, going for walks, sitting outside, and meditating. They all said they choose to do these activities outside because they get a bit of fresh air, and it calms them down a bit. I spend much of my time inside, but I agree that sometimes inside can be too much. When I feel anxious or my head hurts I go outside and am quickly relieved to find I enjoy it. Observe the Outside Let\’s be honest for a moment, many of us ruined our sleep schedule as being inside grew longer and longer. If you find yourself up very early or late I recommend setting a time to watch the sunrise or sunset. If you somehow haven’t ruined your sleep schedule, I’d recommend doing some star gazing. You can either take a blanket and lay it on grass and watch them from outside or watch them inside from a window. I really like this idea because it doesn\’t require much effort and can be done at your comfort. Try a New Sport or Exercise Like mentioned before, I asked my friends what activities they were doing. One of my friends began to skateboard, and my friends who regularly play are continuing to by themselves. If you’re serious about a sport or regularly play i’d say this is more like normal practice or avoiding rust from months of being inactive. If there’s a sport you’ve always wanted to learn, now is the best time to start it due to all the free time. Pick Up Photography as a Skill My friend who recently got injured from his last sports season mentioned he\’s trying out photography. I think this is a cool thing to pick up because it\’s so easy to do. All you need is a phone and a target or item to shoot. If you do become more serious about it, you can buy a camera. Even if you’re not interested in it you’ll most likely improve the way you take pictures which won’t hurt. The least you can take away is a better angle for you to post with. Learn a New Language or Sentence I\’ve heard multiple people mention they started learning a new language because it\’s something they never had time for before. Learning a new language can be a new challenge for you to take on if you feel like your brain is mush (I know mine is). Escape Your Comfort Zone A lot of people have found themselves in a constant state of boredom because they feel as if they’re not being challenged. I\’d suggest doing something you wouldn\’t normally find yourself doing and even avoiding. Being open to something like this will open you up more, and make you tolerant of this you aren’t familiar with. It will also add a challenge and you might end up making it a new hobby. Communicate With Others Because groups of people are still limited, and many of us have gone months without seeing our friends in person, calling or facetime them is a great idea. It will distract you more the longer you\’ve gone without seeing them because it’s our nature to want to catch each other up. Call, text, facetime, or game with your friends, family and loved ones. Being around the same people can become irritating so being able to talk to others you miss can make you feel better, distract you, and keep you caught up with them and vice versa. Try Out a New Look Whether you try new outfits, makeup, or hairstyles, its a great way to speed time along and conforms with any gender! You can paint your nails different colors, try new clothing combinations, wear things you normally wouldn’t and embrace them to learn if they suit you. Whether you identify as a woman, a man, non binary, etc. it\’s a good time to mess with your look and discover who you are through it without being scared or worrying about being judged, or deciding what you do and don’t like. Find Your Birthday Comic The Garfield website releases new comics every day, and you can also search the one released the day you were born or any other day. If you’re not into Garfield, you can find websites to find different comics related to certain days, genres, and authors. (here\’s mine:)) Give Art a Try Personally, I\’ve spent much of my time these past months painting, drawing, coloring, clay molding, and outlining many things. Don’t be afraid to try and do any of these things because Art Is Subjective. Your art is whatever you believe it to be, it can be secretive, it can be bold, it can be scribbles, or a portrait. Your art will only be good if you believe it is good and it can carry meanings only you understand. It can free up tensions and when I do it, time seems to fly by. Write a Journal Another thing I started right before spring break was a journal. I suggest this if there\’s things you only trust with yourself, if you’be been feeling anxious, depressed, alone, or daydreaming like crazy. Writing can be such an outlet if you let it be and if you feel stressed or anxious it can be the release of emotion you need it to be. Writing is also subjective so no one has to understand it or like it but you. It is something that can become more personal with time, but also help you grow as you let things go with it. Read If you’re into that sort of thing, reading can be a relaxer and take things off your mind with ease. I find myself to be a picky reader and sometimes have difficulty finding books but thats the beauty in looking for one! Books are everywhere and honestly still pretty accessible if you’re looking for a paper copy. I recently found one of my new favorites at a Dollar Tree for A DOLLAR. (It was a signed copy and hard cover that retailed for about 30$ online). I do recommend taking the time to look for a book that interests you because it helped me a lot when I took the time to do it. Free Comic Book Day is having a summer event where through July to September comic books will be issued out to those who sign up for them. (link down below) Books i recommend: Windfall by Jennifer E. Smith, I Know Why The Caged Bird sings by Maya Angelou (Autobiography) , The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (Novel), Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi (comic), Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe (Novel), The Maze Runner Series by James Dashner (Adventure Fiction Novel), Looking for Alaska by John Green (Novel) and The Flowers by Alice Walker (DARK poem). 15.Play a Challenging Game If you find yourself not being challenged (once again), try finding a challenging game you\’d like. Whether it\’s a puzzle, word game, or those games where it’s really hard to control your character (I am bread, octodad, heart surgeon simulator, goat simulator) it will sure take you some time to figure out the controls and what to do in order to beat the level. Listen to Calm/White Noise Listen to calm songs. (No not CALM by 5sos) (Ok yes CALM by 5sos)(If you know you know). Listen to music and songs that will help you relax when you feel your anxiety is starting to rise or become irritated. You can meditate, make mental notes, or just vibe. This will help you get your thoughts and ideas out and can trigger your creativity. You can also listen to music if you’re having trouble sleeping. For my fellow Harries/Stylers there’s Dream With Harry by Harry Styles, and if you\’re looking for something else there\’s apps like the Calm app that have specific sounds for your trouble. • To: The Next Generation (a poem)

To the eyes that will watch the sun rise the stars gleam and to the hearts that will go through pain and sorrow grief and despair happiness and joy to the feet that will walk on this land and create new footprints good luck. It is not easy being someone and having a voice it is not easy to get through the downs and reach for the ups it is not easy to live. ~ Avii Feb.18th, 2021 Thursday 6:23pm #writing #art #improvement #journalism #poetry #poem

  • How to Draw Better

How to Draw Better (this also applies to other art techniques/mediums for the most part) – Recently I’ve been trying to get better at drawing. I think I’ve come a long way over the past year. I have no idea how interested you are in this post idea so let me know. I do NOT proclaim to be an expert or anything close, but I can say that I have improved, and I feel like this can apply to anyone regardless of how well they currently draw. Let me quickly say that I think everyone should try some sort of creative outlet, especially during hectic covid when we are isolated. 1) Simple references. When you are first starting out, use the most basic and clear references you can find. If you are drawing people, try to avoid reference photos that have hands in them or difficult textured items. Steadily increase the complexity of your references, so that as you get comfortable drawing something you expand on it and explore more and more things until you can draw practically anything. Trust me this works. Over time you will see progress, and you’ll develop your own technique, style and pace. Remember that If you are using another artist’s work as a reference, always give them credit, and try to make it your own by incorporating your own style instead of merely copying. 2) Circles. It’s likely that you’ve heard this one, but try to blend in circular motions. This has definitely made a difference in my pieces, as my sketches take on more form and look more realistic. This also helps you build layers better, and mix colors better if that’s what you’re blending. Passing your writing utensil back and forth only does so much and ends up looking stiff and flat. Another thing to think about is how you hold your pencil (or other utensil). The higher up you hold it, the looser and freer your marks will be. This part is hard to describe, as I can envision someone just making scribbles when doing this. This lightens your marks and allows for a full range of motion. This takes practice, and gets better over time. 3) Experiment. What can I say about this? Figure out something that you want to create, and then experiment with different techniques, and add to it. Change up the subject matter and vary the way you make it. Often this is how you discover your own style and develop skills in other mediums. Instead of just drawing cityscapes, try animals. Instead of flowers, try an architectural type sketch. Instead of hands, try faces, etc. The possibilities are as limitless as your imagination. You might end up liking your piece, you might not. But you pushed out of your comfort zone and that’s how you really end up growing. 4) Inspiration. Many people say they only draw/do art when they feel a sudden burst of inspiration. I try to draw regardless of whether I feel inspired or not. Doing this (at least for me) helps me feel inspired more often, and helps me focus more, so when I do feel inspired I don’t get frustrated if/when I am no longer inspired by an idea. So while I suggest that you do art even when you don’t feel a burst of creativity, I think it’s important to recognize when/how you feel inspiration. Take note of occasions when you feel inspired so you can better recognize the source(s) of your creativity. You can then sort of control/influence inspiration. Doing this also helps you learn who you are (idk how to phrase that right). 5) Practice. I have heard this a lot, and I kind of rolled my eyes at first, but eventually I made myself draw something everyday. It can seriously help you develop yourself as an artist. You can draw anything. This isn’t actually asking a lot, just sti down for even 5 minutes a day and sketch, doodle, paint etc. You will develop your skills more and won\’t get “rusty.” There’s something about it that helps you kind of refer to yourself as an artist. You familiarize yourself with what you love to do and do it often, and this is an amazing way to relieve stress, to exercise your self control, and to get some special art out of it. Stay safe, Mary (p.s. I love feedback and suggestions for future posts) 8:00pm (GMT +3), Feb. 9th, 2021, Tuesday #art #drawing #improvement #inspiration

  • To Look Deeper

TW: talk about mental health issues. Hola human beings, I’m going to dive into the mental health issue of Bipolar Disorder today. As someone that suffers from Bipolar Disorder, I would never say anything that will raise controversy or will hurt anyone. If that does happen, know it was completely unintentional and I will apologize in advance for it. When we talk about Bipolar Disorder, we usually tend to think about \”over dramatic behavior\” or someone who goes from happy to sad to mad to happy again in the span of seconds. A person with Bipolar Disorder is someone who has no or very low control on their reactions and emotions. We experience high highs and low lows. We feel things, and feel them passionately. Bipolar Disorder has many negative stereotypes around it. Some people say we\’re incapable of love, and that\’s what I\’m going to be talking about today. Love and mental health issues is a topic that\’s not addressed as much as it should be. To be in a relationship with someone who is mentally upset and has some kind of mental health disorder is difficult for both sides of the party. Someone with Bipolar Disorder, and is in a relationship, is someone who needs constant reassurance but at the same time needs space as well. The other person will never know what to expect, and will never be able to prepare for it. It\’s like a rollercoaster, you sit, buckle up, and hope you don\’t fall out. • The Social Wake-Up Call: by Amanda Chapa

The Social Wake-Up Call: An In Depth Look Into The Exploitation of the Modern Worker Social Conflict Theory, in all of its glory, is a social wake up call. While shining a spotlight on the overall inequality seen so often in social stratification, especially under capitalism, it follows those inequalities to their roots: a system that creates major disparities in socioeconomic classes, and is only functional and working for those that are rich enough to buy their places—eg. the rich and highly wealthy. Social Conflict theory reprimands this idea, and closely follows many ideals that seem to unionize the working class under white oppression, and who seek the abolition of such systems. This theory calls on the liberation of the proletariat, and is closely related to other ideologies who seek the same things, such as communism and socialism— both of which find equality and equity for all, regardless of the role they play in society because in the end, they are all equally important to a functioning day and night. This theory, however, is one of the most constant in our everyday lives. Not only does it explain how workers are so often exploited through their social classes and labels, but also bleeds into the cognitive processes we use on a daily basis. Much like conspicuous consumption, the social conflict theory explains how members of a society try and mark their social mobility through material purchases that deem them worthy of attention, praise, and just try and create an image of higher class than what they may be. This is most often evident in the purchases of the middle class, and happens when, for example, a doctor will buy a brand new house, complete with the entire “McMansion” look, just to mark that they are elite and wealthy, despite not being a pert of the high class, but in order to rationalize and move up on the social mobility scale through conspicuous consumption, even if they are aware that the disparity keeping them from actually moving up is the abundance of wealth directly going to those who exploit them, and not the working class, who still show major evidence of conspicuous consumption. Much like the piration of name brands, the working class, or those who are financially stable to have a good credit score, might “buy up,” either with a pricey car, or even a brand new lavish car— all to mark their place on the social mobility scale without actually moving up, and even though they are the class that’s getting majorly exploited. When it comes to other purchases, however, the stigmatization of those being exploited is still majorly evident. When purchasing brand new cars or trucks, the experience differs for each social class. While the high class patrons may experience no dents in their social mobility scale because they amount the most money, they are able to keep exploiting those below them for their own gain, and keep the facade that money will eventually “trickle down.” They are the individuals who demand labor from the middle and working class to keep amounting their wealth, and while shopping for something they may already have many of, their train of thought greatly differs from those of other social classes. While they see it as an everyday experience— driving around in fancy cars and having the ability to buy one at a moment’s notice, the Social Conflict Theory amounts the overwhelming and tone-deaf evidence that their exploitation of others for their own gain, as well as the major disparity in incomes is nothing new to them. This, however, differs from the experience of someone from the middle class, who would most likely have to take their economic situation in mind while looking at cars— which ones are economically beneficial to them, which ones allow for them to still make a mark on the social mobility scale, and still maintain their wealth. The major differences in car shopping for these two social classes is the economic stability seen, and how it once again differs from that of someone in the working class. While the top two classes may have more ease in finding a car fit for them, the working class would most likely find the exact opposite. Instead of worrying about how it may ook, they have to keep in mind how it will economically and socially affect them. Not only do they have to remain stoic on prices, but they also have to take into account just how much a car will cost, and how much work and labor that will mean for them in order to pay off the impending bills and taxes that are sure to come. The cognitive processes most likely in action while making these purchases, however, differ greatly. Just like what was touched on above, each social class greatly differs in economic and social backgrounds, and that itself plays a major role in the involvement of Social Conflict Theory. Not only is it taking into account the major disparity between financial stability, as well as the sometimes inhumane wage gap seen, and how it only benefits the upper class in the end. They, of course, are the owners of the major car companies the middle and working class are buying from in the first place, and as social stratification has it, are the only ones who have the freedom to keep up with an increase in their social mobility. #blog #journalism #report #sociology

  • Jobs You Can Apply To Although You’re Under 18

The Greener Grass A Blog by Jessica Nino Jobs You Can Apply To Although You’re Under 18 Being in such a difficult situation, millions have filed for unemployment and bankruptcy this year. Like myself, I assume many of us want to help our families as much as we can. Many have been looking for jobs, but due to age, have no clue where to apply to. If you do decide to apply, here are some quick tips to remember: You are allowed to work part time and request day shifts only. You can ask to work weekends only because you are a full time student. Do not let your job be the reason you fail out of school, know your priorities and understand how to manage time properly. Fast Food: Many fast food chains are continuously accepting new workers in. These chains include: Whataburger, InNout, Wendy’s, Subway, Mcdonalds, Taco Bell, Canes, Pizza Hut, Sonic and even local chains. Essential Stores: Essential stores can be a bit picky, but also are lenient with new and young workers. They often have different positions to apply for and you can apply to multiple of them at once. Essential stores include: H-E-B, Walmart, Kmart, Big Lots, Home Depot, Office Depot, Michaels, Tj Maxx, Dollar Tree, Sally’s, Dollar General, and Family Dollar etc. Thrift Stores Your local and chain thrift stores may be in need of new and efficient workers! Goodwill and The Salvation Army as well as wholesale centers may need your help and are always a good opportunity to work in. Clothing stores: Clothing retailers tend to take many young workers. Clothing retailers include: Burlington, Ross, Macy’s, JCPenney, Nordstrom, Justice, Footlocker, Champs, Hollister, and pretty much any store you can find at the mall. Local and Small Stores: You would have to research them on your own, but many small businesses need new workers to help them grow. You can become ambassadors or part of their staff to work in their shop, reach out to larger companies, or restock their items, and manage their social media accounts. This would most likely be a bit more difficult and time consuming than the rest that were listed. Contact me Hi! FAQs Who Am I? My Name is Jessica & I am a blogger for the CPSB (college prep student bubble) I was given the wonderful ability to create content for you all as a way to relax or entertain/learn while you prepare for AP/college. What Are My Interests? My interests include painting, volleyball, discovering music, reading (mostly sci-fi or romance), writing about absolutely anything and interacting with new people! I believe having hobbies and consistently participating in them helps you mentally and physically destress, so if you haven\’t done something you enjoy today, take the time to do it :). I am an incoming Junior for the 2020-21 year, and will be graduating with the class of ‘22. I am an Early College High School student, so half of my classes are highschool and the other half are college. My classes this year will include: English 4 dual credit, Geometry PAP, Environmental Systems PAP, US History, (high school). For my first semester in college I am taking College English, Texas Government, and Philosophy. More About My Writing: How did I come up with ‘The Greener Grass’? Very often I heard the saying “the grass isn\’t always greener on the other side” I decided to name my blog after this to give it a positive connotation: it doesn’t matter what side of the “grass’’ were on, sure it may not be the greenest, but I think that by being positive & interacting we can make our grass greener. To me this means we can help each other out, we can teach and learn from each other; we will all eventually feel stress, pressure, & frustration, but together we can make the most out of it and encourage each other & grow. • “Sh,” The Poem of Silent Love

Love is a fundamental part of being human. We practically all experience it, and we almost all wish for it. My inspiration for this poem was love. Silent Love. Maybe unrequited in some ways, however fully returned ten-fold in others. My point in this poem, in the end, was that I’d hope to have the clarity of what my love life was like. I’d hope to know without a shadow of a doubt that I truly lived and didn’t waste a second of my love life. I’d love for readers to see into my personal life. To see how madly in love we can become, to the point where we start to pay attention to the minutia of a moment that really.. isn’t as insignificant as it might’ve been before. When you’re hoping for the closure of a fully lived life, whatever that fully lived life might be to you, love and other people can be a large part of it. Sh Close your lips Softly Solemnly Quietly Never been a believer, But this feeling The air It feels Sweet Even when I Shy Away Even when I can’t Keep Away You never judge me Because you’re you In your complete, loving entirety Always you. And I have to ask, for you to pause. So I can think. So I can take in your Beauty, Not Filtered by your words. A voice, A reason, I want but have neither I Only have an empty mind that begs For sweet, silent eternity Because when those lips of yours close, and the doors to our Lives are Shut all I want is to hear you breathe To Know you were alive And that so was I.

  • 5 habits to quit

5 habits to quit – My last post was a list of five habits to start, so I thought it was fitting and useful to make a list of five habits to stop. I think the more we work to improve ourselves, the happier we are. We have more free time during covid, so this is a great time to break your bad habits. I hope this list gives you some motivation to quit a bad habit, especially if it’s one on this list. Remember, I always love feedback and suggestions for future posts! 1) Procrastination. I’ll be completely honest. I struggle with this the most. It’s hard for me to sit myself down and make myself do something when there’s other things I could be doing. But I’ve avoided the most stress when I’ve been proactive about getting things done early. I want to stop putting things off until the last minute, as I’m sure many of you do too. But wishing isn’t the same as doing. Make it a priority to tackle your tasks as soon as you can, and notice how much better it feels to have it off of your mind and plate. 2) Wasting valuable time on screens. In no way am I saying that you need to cut screens out of your life entirely, but it benefits yourself and society much more when you put down your phone, remote, etc. and start helping others, and just being alive. Screens can still be a good thing, but good things are best in moderation. Read a book, mow someone’s lawn, look around and notice who needs someone to talk to, etc. It’s also better for you to be less sedentary. Get up and move around. Take a walk outside, complete a workout, walk up and down stairs, etc. Your mood will improve and so will your health. Not to mention you’re no longer doom scrolling for hours. Doodle, go fishing, collect cool rocks, whatever makes you happy and gets you off the couch. 3) Blaming. This is a hard, subconscious, bad habit that many people have. Blaming others for a situation you’re in can be very toxic. Please note that there is a fine line between taking the blame for everyone/letting others walk all over you, and not searching for something or someone to blame. This habit has become so automated that we start to really believe that everything bad in our lives is because of someone else. Yes, certain things are directly or indirectly caused by the actions of someone else, but if we allow ourselves to believe that nothing bad is our fault, then we lose all control of the situation. We become less responsible and honest. This not only hurts us, but it negatively affects those around us and strains relationships that otherwise would be healthy. How do we stop doing this? We need to hold ourselves accountable to the things we do, to the degree by which it affects a situation. This also applies to anyone who blames themselves for any problems. As you start to change this, you’ll see a change in how you look at the world and notice that it seems much friendlier and manageable as you see that not everything is out to get you. 4) Pessimism. It is so easy to get caught up in all the negative things that have been and are happening around us that it feels like there isn’t any good left. This is detrimental to relationships, productivity, (optimism obviously) and our mental health. Stop doom scrolling. Look for ways we have improved during this time, and learn how to be positive even during challenging times. Take time to be grateful. Note the positive aspects in life. You just have to notice what perspective you’re looking at it from. I’m certainly not telling you to put on rose colored glasses and block any semi- negative event or thing out, but make sure to have a balance. Notice the good and the bad, not one or the other. This way of looking at things is much more fulfilling. 5) Gossiping. There’s not much good to say about gossip, there’s just a whole lot of bad. So why do we do it? This is a strange habit that I don’t fully understand, but I believe that it stems from our desire to be seen as better than those around us. Yet gossiping about others actually lowers the opinions of ourselves in the minds of others. This is why I don’t really understand it. Regardless, gossip is toxic and should be avoided. Instead, spread news of good qualities of others. Others will notice and will want to be around you more because you won’t talk bad about them behind their backs. You’ll gain respect rather than resentment. Let me know if you want more lists like this Stay safe, maemaeuae (I love feedback and suggestions for future posts)
